DELIVERY POLICY

Once you have paid your invoice, there are three ways to receive your lots: collect them from us, have us pack and post them, or arrange a third-party shipper for larger items. Whichever you choose, please read the important note on insurance below.

Insurance is not included in the postage cost. If you want your item insured while it is in transit, please ask us for cover before it is dispatched. Without cover, items travel entirely at your own risk.

Collecting your lots

Paid lots can be collected from our premises at 11 High Street, Carshalton, SM5 3AP, by appointment only. Please email contact@carshaltonauction.co.uk to arrange a time. Collection is at your own risk and expense.

If a courier or another person is collecting for you, please email us beforehand with their name and company to authorise the collection. Lots are only released once the invoice has been paid in full.

Postage by us (smaller items)

We have our own in-house shipping department and can pack and post most smaller lots, in the UK and worldwide. We use trusted carriers such as UPS, DHL and FedEx, never economy services, and supply all customs declarations and commercial invoices for overseas shipments.

Packing and postage charges are added to your invoice. For particularly fragile or unusually shaped items we can offer bespoke packing, foam packs, custom cartons or wooden crating; just ask for a quote.

Insurance and transit cover

  • Insurance is not included in the postage cost. You must request it before dispatch.
  • Transit cover is charged at 1.5% of the invoice total, plus VAT.
  • Cover is only available on items that we pack ourselves, is based on the invoice value, and is available up to £20,000 per consignment. Please contact us about higher values.
  • Cover runs from dispatch until delivery. It does not cover items lost or stolen after delivery, including parcels left in a safe place, with a neighbour or on a doorstep.
  • Any damage must be reported to us within 48 hours of delivery, with photographs of the item and the original packaging. Please keep all packaging until the claim is settled.
  • If you choose not to take cover, your lot travels entirely at your own risk and we cannot accept liability for loss or damage in transit.

Larger items: third-party shippers

Some larger, heavier or very fragile lots cannot be posted in-house. For these, you will need to arrange collection through a shipping company. Quoting, packing, payment and collection will then be handled by the shipper you instruct, and any contract for that service is between you and them. We recommend the following companies for domestic and international shipping and domestic clearances:

Pack & Send (Richmond Park) Email: richmondpark@packsend.co.uk Tel: +44 (0)20 8392 6990

Once you have chosen a shipper, please email contact@carshaltonauction.co.uk to authorise them to collect on your behalf.

International buyers

You are responsible for any import duty, taxes and customs charges in your country. Some items, such as those containing ivory or other protected materials, or certain weapons, may need an export licence or be subject to CITES rules before they can be shipped. We are happy to advise, but obtaining any licence is the buyer’s responsibility.

Storage charges

We offer 14 days’ free storage from the date of the sale. After that, lots that have not been collected, or for which shipping has not been arranged, are charged at:

  • £5.00 per lot, per day (or part day) for smaller items and pictures (anything that can be handled by one person)
  • £10.00 per lot, per day for larger lots

London Camera & Antique Auction Ltd is entitled to keep any lot until all sums due, including storage, have been paid.
