Specialist Vintage Camera Auctions in Carshalton, Surrey
We’re an independent auction house at 11 High Street, Carshalton, and cameras are at the heart of every sale. Whether you have a single rangefinder, a box of family cameras or a collection built up over decades, we can value it, catalogue it properly and offer it to collectors bidding online from across the UK and around the world.
Recent sales have included Leica M3, M4-2 and M6 outfits, Rolleiflex and Hasselblad medium-format cameras, a Rectaflex outfit that made £6,950, and cine cameras, alongside everyday film cameras that still find keen buyers.
What Cameras We Sell
We sell film and digital cameras of almost every age and type: 35mm rangefinders and SLRs, medium- and large-format cameras, folding and box cameras, subminiatures, and cine cameras. Single items and whole collections are equally welcome.
Brands Collectors Look For
Some makers consistently attract strong bidding at our sales:
- Leica: screw-mount, M-series and R-series cameras (see Sell your Leica)
- Rolleiflex, Hasselblad and other medium-format cameras
- Contax, Zeiss Ikon and Rectaflex
- Classic Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Pentax and Minox cameras
- Cine cameras such as Bolex, and early wooden and brass cameras
Cameras That Don't Work Still Sell
Many buyers want cameras for spares, repair or display, so a jammed shutter or a hazy lens doesn’t make an item worthless. Please don’t clean, oil or try to repair a camera before sale. Leave that to the buyer, and just tell us what you know about it.
Free Camera Valuations
Get a free camera valuation by sending us clear photos, book a visit to our Carshalton saleroom (by appointment), or ask about a home visit for larger collections. We’ll give you an honest auction estimate, with no obligation to sell.
For a photo valuation, include the front, back and top plate, the serial number and the lens markings, and tell us whether the shutter fires.

Selling to Collectors Across the UK and Worldwide
Every sale is streamed live on London Camera Live, and bidders join online, by phone and by commission bid from across the UK and overseas. That wider audience is why vintage and specialist cameras often do better at auction than in a local shop.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much is my old camera worth in the UK?
It depends on the make, model, lens and condition. Most everyday film cameras sell for under £100, while classic Leica, Rolleiflex and Hasselblad outfits regularly make several hundred to over £2,000 at our sales. Send us photos for a free estimate, or see our guide Which Vintage Cameras Are Worth Money?
Is there a market for vintage cameras?
Yes. Film photography is popular again, and collectors buy rare and historic cameras. At our recent sales a Rectaflex outfit made £6,950, a Nikon S3 £1,600 and a Rolleiflex 2.8GX £1,500.
What is the best way to sell old cameras?
For valuable or collectable cameras, auction lets collectors compete, so you get the market price on the day. Dealers and part-exchange offer speed and certainty but have to buy below resale value. For low-value cameras, a mixed lot at auction or a local sale is usually simplest. We’ll tell you honestly which suits your cameras.
Where can I sell vintage 35mm cameras?
You can sell them at a specialist auction like ours, to a camera dealer, or online yourself. We sell 35mm rangefinders and SLRs in every sale, and bidders join online from across the UK and abroad.
Do you sell cameras that don't work?
Yes. Non-working cameras sell to collectors and repairers, and we describe their condition honestly. Please don’t try to repair or clean them before the sale.
Can you value a camera from photos?
Yes. Use our free camera valuation page or email photos of the front, back, top plate, serial number and lens markings, and tell us whether the shutter fires.
When will I be paid?
Once the buyer has paid, we pay you the hammer price less our commission and any charges, within 7 days of your lot being dispatched to, or collected by, the buyer.
